Proper grooming is about more than appearance. Regular use of a soft horse face brush helps remove dust and debris, stimulates natural oil production, and provides an opportunity to check for cuts, swelling, or areas of sensitivity before riding.
Step 1: Begin with a Clean Horse Face Brush
Before grooming, ensure the face brush is free of dirt, loose hair, and debris. A clean brush prevents transferring dust back onto the horse’s coat and provides a more comfortable grooming experience.
Step 2: Introduce the Brush Calmly
Allow Your horse to see and smell the brush before beginning. Many horses enjoy facial grooming, but introducing the brush slowly helps build trust and keeps the experience relaxed.
Step 3: Use Gentle Strokes
Using light, even pressure, brush in the direction of the hair growth. Begin on the forehead and gradually work across the cheeks and down the jawline using smooth, controlled strokes. The ultra-soft bristles are designed to lift fine dust without irritating sensitive skin.
Step 4: Groom Around Sensitive Areas
Carefully groom around the eyes, ears, muzzle, and poll using the pointed end of the brush. Avoid direct contact with the eyes and inside the ears. Use slow, deliberate movements, allowing Your horse to remain comfortable throughout the process.
Step 5: Finish the Neck
Use the broader end of the brush to remove any remaining dust from the upper neck and throatlatch. This creates a consistent, polished appearance while helping distribute the coat’s natural oils for a healthy shine.
Step 6: Clean the Brush
After each grooming session, remove loose hair and dust from the bristles. Periodically wash the brush with warm water and a mild soap, then allow it to air dry completely before storing.
*Grooming Tip*
For the best results, use a soft horse face brush as the final step in your grooming routine after removing dirt with a curry comb and body brushes. This finishing step enhances the natural shine of the coat while leaving the face clean, comfortable, and ready for everyday riding or competition.
Fill a pan with water and dish detergent. Place your brushes bristle down in pan. Waterline should be just below wood blocks (do not submerge wood block in water). Oscillate each brush in the water without getting the wood block wet; this will loosen dirt and debris. Soak brushes for one hour. Rinse bristles with water only and air-dry with bristles facing down. It is recommended that brushes be cleaned once a month if you are grooming daily.
